1) Chief Financial Officer, Full Time, Edmonton, AB

Overview

The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the Carrington Group.   Reporting to the CEO and the board of directors, the chief financial officer (CFO) will play a critical role in developing and implementing the financial strategy and investment criteria of all companies within the Carrington Group. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO will be an advisor to the divisional presidents and divisional controllers with direct involvement in the development and monitoring of the financial objectives of the Company.

Chief Financial Officer Responsibilities:

  • Assist in ensuring the overall strategic direction of the company is met.
  • Active participant in setting and monitoring the yearly objectives of the company.
  • Manage corporate capital, including the sourcing of financing.
  • Ensure that the overall budgeting, cost management and key performance indicators are in alignment with strategic plan as well as industry standards.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the divisional controllers.
  • Oversee the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, Board reporting and any ad-hoc reporting.
  • Expand on current financial policies and internal controls.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist in selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).

Chief Financial Officer Qualifications/Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Driven leader with strong mentorship skills.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Experience in Real Estate/Home Building or Hospitality industry is an asset.

2) Executive Assistant, Full Time, Edmonton, AB

Carrington Land is currently looking for a highly experienced Executive Assistant to support our Land Acquisition Manager and Land Development Manager.

Executive Assistant Qualifications/Experience:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Business Administration, or relevant discipline, required.
  • 5+ years’ experience as an Executive Assistant.
  • Previous experience in the land development industry is considered an asset.
  • High degree of professionalism and confidentiality is required.
  • Strong knowledge of office procedures and practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

Executive Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct administrative and office management support to the Land Acquisition Manager, Land Development Manager and the Land team.
  • Maintain work schedules and calendars of the Land Acquisition Manager and Land Development Manager.
  • Prepare travel schedules, book travel arrangements, and make reservations for the Land Acquisition Manager and the Land Development Manager.
  • Coordinate activities surrounding Land Acquisition and Development, including liaising between Executive Team, consultants and realtors; maintain quotes and actual costs to date and provide status updates.
  • Purchase agreements; tracking, writing deposits and ensure full execution.
  • Complete Title, Land and Registered document searches.
  • Maintain land inventory spreadsheets and files.
  • Coordinate administration activities relating to Carrington Resorts properties.
  • Review all documents, reports, and correspondence prepared for executive signatures for format, content, grammar, spelling and make edits as necessary.
  • Prepare draft reports, background documentation, and research.
  • Assist other Executives as requested.

 

This full-time position is located in Edmonton, Alberta.  Carrington Land provides a competitive compensation, benefits and RRSP package.  Regular hours for this position are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, however flexibility for this position is required.

3) Assistant Land Development Manager, Full Time, Edmonton, AB

Carrington Land is currently looking for a highly experienced Assistant Land Development Manager.

Assistant Land Development Manger Qualifications/Experience:

  • 3+ years of work experience from a variety of disciplines will be considered, including urban planning, engineering, construction, marketing, real estate, or banking.
  • Degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Strong attention to detail; strong computer and organizational skills.
  • Experience administering LotWorks or a similar online lot management tool considered an asset.
  • Displays a high level of initiative and superior communication/ interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiations and / or conflict resolution experience.
  • Experience with, or training in, budgeting and other financial / accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of basic engineering and/or urban planning principles is an asset.
  • Experience in the land development approval process, or with a land development company, is an asset.

Assistant Land Development Manager Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of development projects including assisting with contracting and managing project consultants.
  • Review and approve payables and ensure receivables are collected.
  • Provide support in ensuring completion certificates (CCC/FAC) are obtained.
  • Complete required documentation and provide supporting in obtaining project approvals for development from approving authorities, working with consultants/planners.
  • Assess/research development problems and options for resolution, and determine actions to be taken, with guidance from the Land Manager.
  • Assist with managing maintenance contractors and ensuring developments are maintained.
  • Build long-term business relationships with builders, approving authorities, contract professional/technical people, and communities.
  • Lead in development and adherence to Architectural Guidelines for each community
  • Develop and implement community marketing plans and budgets through the coordination of internal and external resources.
  • Work with builders (and marketing consultants as required) to market communities to the public (e.g. logos, brochures). Help to coordinate show home parades.
  • Conduct market research on competitive communities regarding pricing, terms, developer incentives, sales absorption for various Lot types and configurations.
  • Respond to inquiries from customers regarding developments.

 

This full-time position is located in Edmonton, Alberta.  Carrington Land provides a competitive compensation, benefits and RRSP package.  Regular hours for this position are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
